Synthetic Sublime

Synthetic Sublime uses blown glass and laser light to create a glitch in space. A shimmering cloud of pixelated green light hovers above the the surface of the glass and appears to dissolve the glass form itself, giving the illusion of an infinitely deep green void in the center of the piece. Synthetic Sublime is another in a series of “anti-instagram” artwork; experiential work which is phenomenological in nature and requires first hand observation as it cannot be replicated in photo or video. When photographed, Synthetic Sublime looks like a low resolution digital image due to the fact that it appears pixelated in reality when viewed in person.
